I have started learning using scope for awhile. It has been great knowing the circuits. I work in semiconductor field, run quite lots of tests.
In this photo, look like time div is 200us. Voltage div is 2V. Position is -2.36V. I checked a random test point on an Arduino hobbyist board. It's good to see something I look at.
I have a Tektronic TDS 2022B at work.
I just used the probe checking the voltage waves. I found the test point on the application board and checked the signal.
It's an overkill because I can use the digital meter to check it. I actually look for some other parameters. However, checking the wave forms and stability of the signals are important.
You can off the measure table for looking at just the wave forms. It's hard to look into the manual to find what you are looking for to show up on screen of the scope.
